Let's Dance Can Do!® Bigleaf Hydrangea
What makes Let's Dance Can Do! different from other reblooming bigleaf hydrangeas?
- The ability to set flower buds along the entire length of its stem, helping to ensure beautiful, colorful blooms, even if conditions are less than ideal
- It doesn't merely survive in zone 4 - it actually can bloom there!
- Sets buds even at cool temperatures, creating a much longer display
Details:
Name: Hydrangea macrophylla 'SMNHMTB' PP32,548
Hardiness: USDA zones 4-9
Height x width: 3-4' x 3'
Light: Full to part sun
Soil: Evenly moist but well-drained soils are best. A 2-3" layer of shredded bark mulch is recommended in all areas, all year round.
Pruning: Blooms on old and new wood; to get the most flowers, do not trim or cut back. However, any dead wood may be removed in early spring
Water: Average to high water needs. Though big leaf hydrangeas cannot grow in wet soils, they can become drought stressed readily and should be watered regularly. Plants in full sun and/or warmer climates will need more water than those in less sun and/or cooler areas.
Fertilizer: Fertilize once in early spring with a rose fertilizer if desired.
Bloom time: Midsummer through fall.
Bloom color: Flower color depends on soil pH; lacecap blooms are a clear, true pink in neutral to alkaline conditions and lavender in acidic conditions.
Uses: A classic choice for including in gardens and landscaping, it also makes a nice choice for low hedges and containers.
